Row, row, row your boat, life is but a dream..
Mayra shares a common experience for many parents who are working to support their families: “My 3 kids are everything to me.” There is often little time to enjoy the day to day changes of their growing children. Ready, Set, Go! offered Mayra and Adrianna new ways of being together beyond the ABC’s.
In this video, Mayra expressed, “When I had my first daughter, there were a lot of challenges. I heard a lot of negative comments about me being so young. I had to drop out of school. I think I gave up all my dreams.” She started working right away and missed all the “first tooth” little things.
After a family forest field trip with Ready, Set, Go!, Mayra joyfully offered, “I think it was the first time I took time to look at a tree... so inspiring. We are just able to love each other. I’m in a place I never thought I was going to be. That makes me really happy.”

What makes Ready, Set, Go! unique?
FAMILY ENGAGEMENT
The whole family comes to the classroom to get to know each other and create a community. They expand their support networks.
EQUITABLE ACCESS
Kids with disabilities are supported by intervention specialists in the classroom and the parents are present to learn and share their knowledge about their children
CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE
Families from different cultures are invited to interact in the classroom and share their cultures and traditions.
4.2 vs 3.6 RSG students beat the state average social emotional score on the State Kindergarten Assessment.
Percentage of children that showed improvement in developing social emotional skills as measured by the Child Behavior Rating Scale
(Average score of 3.9 compared to state average 3.6)
Percentage of kindergartners participating in RSG that scored at or above average on the state Get Ready to Read literacy assessment.
*The majority of RSG children’s primary language is not English.
Percentage of parents reporting that RSG helped them build family protective factors that increase their child’s likelihood of academic success by participating in RSG.
