What We Do
Bringing out the best in people and their communities.
Our Mission
Metropolitan Family Service helps people move beyond the limitations of poverty, inequity and social isolation.
Our Work
MFS delivers proven programs to help people succeed at home, in school and in the community.  We are here to support parents and students.  We are here to help our older neighbors.  We are here to connect working families with vital resources. We are here to energize volunteers and inspire future generations.

Our experienced and dedicated staff partner with volunteers, community members and a dedicated Board of Directors in order to make today’s communities work.

Our Focus
  • As a catalyst, we inspire new ideas.

  • As a convener, we bring out diverse voices.

  • As a collaborator, we work with others to drive social change.

  • As an innovator, we improve the systems that support people.

For over 60 years, we’ve joined forces with key community partners from education, healthcare, business and government to create opportunities that change lives and make communities stronger.  Our commitment to children, families and older adults encourages people across the lifespan to realize their full potential.  To accomplish this, we focus our work and expertise on three critical community initiatives:

Strengthening early childhood development and building youth success through collaboration and innovation...

…so that every child gets a good start in life and has the opportunity to grow into healthy, educated, productive, and engaged members of our community.

Developing and promoting effective approaches to community-based health and wellness throughout the lifespan...

…so that people are equipped to play an active role in their well-being and societal costs for healthcare can be reduced.

Advancing individual and family economic well-being…

…so that people in our community can live with dignity, security and purpose.

Our Values
Each of us has potential that is uniquely our own. Yet sometimes that potential is overshadowed by life’s challenges. At MFS, we strive to set a standard of inclusiveness and empowerment that can be shared from person to person and community to community. When we value individuality, honor culture, and respect differences, we all benefit.

Together we learn. Together we grow. Together we succeed.
