Ways to Work

Electric Vehicle Program

Did you know that on average, the cost to power a vehicle by electricity is half the cost per mile to power it by gasoline? And that switching to an electric vehicle can reduce your carbon footprint by up to 50%? The popularity of electric cars is on the rise and we here at MFS are responding by adjusting our Ways to Work program to be more welcoming to electric cars and bikes (EVs). We provide loans up to $12,000 at a below market interest rate and help participants navigate the rebates available when you purchase an electric car. Low-income Oregonians may be eligible for up to $7,500 in rebates and we know this can go a long way to buying a car. In addition we offer loans for ebikes and help people find the ebike that is the best fit for them.

MFS was recently awarded a five year innovation grant from the City of Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund and we are using some of this funding to promote EV awareness in our communities. This fund invests in projects and programs to address climate change and advance racial and social justice. We are committed to lowering carbon emission, along with advocacy for our communities.

Wondering if an EV might be right for you? Then check out these flyers for more information and to see if you might qualify for Ways to Work:
