Covid-19 Safety Precautions at all MFS Hunger Relief Sites
All Staff and Volunteers are trained in the following safety protocols when they arrive on-site for their first shift, and daily check-ins are held before the start of each distribution to remind staff and volunteers of these protocols. MFS staff must get prior approval from their supervisors to assist at pantry sites. All AmeriCorps members must additionally fill out a “Risk Assessment Form” (copy included below) and get supervisor approval before volunteering.
.
Masks/Face Coverings
- Masks that cover the nose and mouth completely must be worn at all times by staff, volunteers, and clients while on school property, unless removed briefly to eat or drink.
- Face shields may be worn in addition to a mask, but not instead of a mask
- “Masks Required” signs are posted in multiple languages at all walk-up pantry sites. If clients are unable or unwilling to wear a mask in line, they must step at least 10 feet away from other clients and the food distribution area. They must wear a mask over their nose and mouth before shopping.
- Hunger Relief staff or volunteers will offer to shop for clients unable/unwilling to wear a mask
.
Social Distancing
- Staff and volunteers practice social distancing when possible
- Clients are required to maintain social distance while standing in line and shopping at the pantry
- Tables and volunteers are 6 feet apart for distribution. Volunteers maintain social distance with clients during distribution
.
Sanitizing/Hand Washing
- Staff and volunteers are asked to frequently wash their hands and use hand sanitizer throughout their shift
- Clients use hand sanitizer at check-in before shopping
- If gloves are worn, staff and volunteers must sanitize their hands before putting them on. Gloves must also be frequently sanitized and changed throughout the shift, and removed while eating and drinking
- Any staff or volunteers distributing food are required to wear gloves
- All tables are sanitized before the start of a pantry distribution, after pantry ends, and throughout the pantry distribution as necessary
- Equipment bins with all cleaning supplies are kept in the food pantry van
.
Contact Tracing
- Staff and volunteers who are on-site are tracked daily for contract tracing purposes. This list is maintained by Hunger Relief staff
- If any volunteers or staff are experiencing any symptoms of illness, they are required to stay home
- We require that staff will remain at home if experiencing symptoms and remain at home until they have been free from fever and other symptoms for 48 hours. If they test positive for COVID, the instructions for that process is noted below.
- What happens with contact tracing/closures/testing requirements if someone at a pantry site tests positive for Covid-19? We need clarification on this from OHA and Multnomah County
- Hunger Relief Staff must notify HR (Susan Posner) of any positive COVID tests. HR will work with the employee/volunteer to determine where they have been and who may have been impacted by any exposure. HR will ask for contact tracing logs maintained by the Hunger Relief Team. HR maintains the confidentiality of the employee and coordinates the notifications to anyone who may have had exposure to the employee/volunteer during the 48 hours prior to the onset of positive COVID test. (this is the standard set by the CDC).
- Staff member or volunteer who is diagnosed with COVID must remain at home for a minimum of 14 calendar days and may return to the food pantry if they have a negative COVID test or have experienced no symptoms (fever and other COVID related symptoms) for 48 hours.
