A lack of social connections and supportive services contribute to
unnecessary dependency, poor mental and physical health, and higher
rates of mortality in older adults and people with disabilities.
Metropolitan Family Service recognizes that independence among
seniors and the disabled is impacted by economic and social
stresses. MFS provides programs to support the independence and
dignity of older adults and people with disabilities. We host forums
to engage the healthcare community in finding ways to prevent
depression and suicide in older adults. We develop intensified
services to older adults with a specific emphasis on health
maintenance and resource connection.
Metropolitan Family Service offers two programs that provide support for independence.
