Three years ago Kristie O'Connor retired because of health
problems. When she worked she took care of her home and
liked to do things for herself. Now she finds she overdoes
it before she even knows it.
Now 69, Kristie gets support each week from Annie Mann, a
Senior Companion volunteer. Annie visits Kristie each
Wednesday and according to Kristie, "I don't know what I
would do without her." Annie grocery shops for Kristie and
on good days Kristie and Annie shop together.
Through Senior Companion Annie also assists with bill
paying, medication pick up, and transportation to doctor
appointments.
Kristie was introduced to Metropolitan Family Service a
couple of years ago when Project Linkage, another MFS
program, helped her prepare for the installation of new
carpet in her home. Through Project Linkage Kristie receives
assistance with her laundry each week.
Kristie says, "MFS has provided me with professional and
committed people who have helped me live independently. I am
so happy and grateful they're here. I would like to thank
MFS for providing these services."
