Overview
High poverty rates, lack of
education, language, and culture all play a role in creating
barriers to wellness.
One in five families in Oregon live
in poverty. Metropolitan Family Service invests in individuals that struggle with many of
the issues associated with cultural and economic disparities –
including obesity, poor nutrition, and diabetes.

Your Involvement Metropolitan
Family Service engages the
energy, resources, and time
of many community partners and volunteers
to provide health services in the Greater
Portland region.
Our community partners include nonprofit providers, businesses,
schools, health care organizations, and funders. With these
collaborations, MFS provides health services to more than 2,200
individuals each year.
Metropolitan Family Service volunteers include business leaders, parents, students,
neighbors, families, and our own
MFS health participants.
The success of our health services and the individuals who
participate in these services
are directly related to the support we receive from our partners,
volunteers, and the community.
