The conversation leaders have selected the following questions and articles for consideration:

  1. A recent survey conducted by Zero to Three found that many parents do not understand how deeply babies' and toddlers' social-emotional development is affected by their early experience. What was it like for you to face parenting for the first time? Where did you gather your parenting information? What challenges did you face?  What helped?
  2. What do we mean by strong families?  How do strong families support healthy child development?  How can we translate what we know about strong families into supports for those who are not so strong, both during early childhood and the school age years?
  3. How can we act to mobilize our community in support of families, children and youth? Where can we most productively place our energies, both individually and collectively?
