agog promotes face-to-face conversation, civic engagement and social change

Portland, Oregon based Metropolitan Family Service convenes agog discussions on important social issues that are relevant to everyone. Fun and informative, agog engages local community leaders to provoke thoughtful and well articulated conversations where we listen, speak, learn and – most of all – move ourselves collectively toward a community that takes care of each other.

Last year, more than 275 people participated in privately hosted agog discussions. This year, the series explores the timely issue of Creating a Prosperous Economy Together.

Each fall, the agog discussion series culminates in A Gathering of Good, a celebration and signature fundraiser for Metropolitan Family Service programs. This unique and “very Portland” event attracts hundreds of people and features presentation of the Provocateur award to a person who is making a positive difference in our community. This award honors the legacy of Eileen Johnson, a community leader and longtime supporter of Metropolitan Family Service.
